Thiago André is a young and talented middle distance athlete from Brazil. He was born in Belford Roxo (part of the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro) and only started training at the age of 14. His city was looking for athletes to represent the city at the Olimpíada da Baixada Fluminense and he was asked to train for this championship. He started training and the results followed. Thiago also started to train with coach Adauto Domingues and joined the club BM&FBOVESPA.
He competed in his first international track championship in 2014. He competed in the 800m and 1500m at the World Junior Championships in Eugene and finished as fourth in both finals. Later on in 2014 Thiago was runner-up at the Ibero-American Championships 800m where he dipped under 1:46 for the first time.
The 2015 season started of great for Thiago by winning the national title in both the 800m and the 1500m. He also traveled to Europe for the first time to compete with the best in the world. This resulted in a 1500m personal best of 3:35.90 in Hengelo. With this results he qualifies for the Pan Am Games, World Championships and Olympic Games.
